Default Fairfield Announces 2008 Women's Lacrosse Schedule

Fairfield, Conn – Fairfield University head women's lacrosse coach Beth Loffredo announced the program's 2008 schedule this afternoon. The Stags 17-game slate includes six home games and six meetings with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League foes.

"We have put together a balanced schedule that includes a highly competitive non-conference schedule," said Loffredo. "In addition we are excited about taking on our traditional MAAC rivals, with the ultimate goal being a postseason appearance."

Fairfield begins conference action on the road on March 29, traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to take on Marist College, who defeated the Stags in the conference tournament last season. The Stags will play at Manhattan on April 4, before hosting their first league contest on April 6, hosting Iona. The weekend of April 11-13 finds the team in Western New York, playing at Niagara and Canisius, before wrapping up the league regular season at home on April 20, versus Siena, on Senior Day.

The Stags open the season with three home games, the first two will come without leaving the state, opening the season at Yale, Feb. 27, and Sacred Heart, Feb. 29. Fairfield then visits the West Coast with a March 5 contest at St. Mary's (CA) College.

A week later the Stags return to action with their home opener, hosting Boston College, before traveling to Mt. St. Mary's, March 15. Fairfield is home again on March 19 when it hosts Lehigh in a non-conference contest, before traveling to Wagner on March 26.

Fairfield plays its third in-state rival to kick off the month of April, traveling to Storrs for a meeting with UConn. After two conference games, the Stags close out the road portion of their non-conference schedule at Holy Cross on April 9. Columbia is the foe on April 16, the first of three home games to end the season, while LeMoyne is the final non-conference opponent of the year on April 18, under the lights.

The MAAC Lacrosse League Tournament will be hosted by Iona April 25-27, with the top four regular season teams competing for an NCAA Tournament berth.
