Women's Lacrosse Falls To 12th-Ranked Mary Washington, 16-8
ST. CROIX, USVI - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-8 decision to 12th-ranked Mary Washington while on spring break Wednesday morning.
The Eagles used a 7-2 scoring burst in the first half to lead by five at the break. Mary Washington out-scored the Lady Captains 9-6 in the second stanza.
CNU was paced by Kristyn Hankins three goals and three assists. Shayna Sargent added two scored and Brooke Falck contributed one goal and two assists. Kristen Conques and Bonnie Hansen each scored one goal.
Christopher Newport was out-shot by th Eagles, 34-20. CNU keeper Theresa Sparks had 14 saves in goal.
Mary Washington improves to 3-1 overall while the Lady Captains fall to 3-2.
CNU returns to action March 11 when they travel to Shenandoah with start time set for 1:00 pm.
