Default Scott Evans still troubled by knee

Rochester Knighthawks forward Scott Evans was scratched from last weekend's 11-9 win over the Boston Blazers because of continued pain in his knee. Members on the official forums reported seeing Evans icing his knee and limping around the locker room prior to the game. This news indicates that Evans, who missed all of the 2009 season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, is still being troubled by his slowly recovering knee.

This would explain Evans' lack of production thus far this season if his knee has been slowing him down during play. In 5 games Evans has a netted only 3 goals which would put him on pace for about 15 by season's end. In comparison, he scored over 40 goals in each of the 2007 and 2008 seasons prior to his injury, second on the team in scoring only to John Grant Jr. Obviously he has not yet fully recovered. He has proven to be an integral part of the Knighthawks offense and his poor production has really affected the Hawks' overall team synergy. It probably doesn't help things that both he and his brother Shawn seem to absorb a lot of questionable hits from opposing teams every game. Whether or not Evans will be ready to return to action this weekend against the Philadephia Wings is yet to be determined.

Fans should also remember that Hawks all-star John Grant also missed all of last season with knee issues. He actually had to have his ACL completely removed with emergency surgery after a life-threatening staph infection spread from his elbow to his knee. For the most part, Grant has recovered and returned to his good ol' goal-scoring self. In a recent article appearing on NLL.com, Grant readily admits that he is a step slower than he used to be but it is good to see Grant return to form because knee issues have proven to be one of the worst injuries a player could suffer in indoor lacrosse as evidenced by Scottie Evans' continued struggles.
