Peyser Named Named Defensive Player Of Week
Orlando Titans defenseman Greg Peyser was honored on Wednesday afternoon as the National Lacrosse League's Defensive Player of the Week.
Peyser anchored a Titans defense that limited the high-scoring Rochester Knigthhawks to just 32 shots on goal and just eight goals total in a 13-8 win last Friday. Peyser scooped up an Orlando Titans' season-high 16 loose balls and contributed two assists.
He was also outstanding on faceoffs, winning 12 of 20 attempts (60%), including two that directly led to goals in the fourth period when the Titans scored three times in 25 seconds to break open a tight 9-7 game.
It was the first league award for a Titans player this season. Other award winners for the week included Rochester goalie Aaron Bold (63 saves in two games) as Overall Player of the Week; Washington forward Jeff Zywicki (3 Goals, 6 Assists) as Offensive Player of the Week, Edmonton's Brodie Merrill (2 goals, 18 loose balls) as Transition Player of the Week, and Edmonton's Brett Mydeske (2 goals, 7 loose balls) as Rookie of the Week.
