Rush add familar and new faces
-The Edmonton Rush have re-acquired Chris McKay and traded for Greg Hinman in a pair of deals that were done by GM/Head Coach Bob Hamley today.
"These trades really help to solidify our defence with two players who provide us with great hustle as demonstrated by their ability to chase down and collect loose balls," said Hamley.
Hinman comes to the Rush from the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. The Bandits selected him in the 2008 NLL Dispersal Draft on Monday off the roster of the Calgary Roughnecks. Hinman played 11 games for the Roughnecks last season, registering two goals and five assists.
The 25-year-old defenceman spent the previous two season playing for Hamley in Arizona where he picked up 12 points in a total of 21 games. Hinman also played in all five of the Sting's playoff games in both 2006 and 2007. In his entire 32 NLL career games, Hinman has collected 159 loose balls.
The Rush re-acquired McKay from the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. McKay joined the Rush part-way through the 2008 regular season, notching two goals and four assists for six points along with 56 loose balls in just seven games.
McKay is another player very well acquainted with Hamley having spent three years with him in Arizona where he was a loose-ball force including a career-high 86 in 2006. McKay also has six assists in eight career NLL playoff games.
