Default Gill picked for All-Star Game

Edmonton, AB---Edmonton Rush forward Chris Gill has been selected to the West Division team for the 2007 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game set for Saturday, March 10 in Portland, Oregon.

Gill, who played in both the 1999 and 2002 All-Star Games, will join Rush Captain Andrew Turner who was named as a West starter earlier this week in voting by NLL general managers, media and fans.

"Chris has been everything we had hoped for when we brought him and more both on and off the floor, said A.J. Jomha, the Rush's Director of Lacrosse Operations and Assistant Coach.

"It's a great honour for him and it's great for our organization to see that we have more than one player from our team named to all-star team."

Gill leads the Rush with 14 goals and 26 points and is coming off a six-point game (four goals and two assists) in Edmonton's last outing against the Arizona Sting. The 11-year-veteran is on pace for the second-best season of his career.

He scored 63 points for the Vancouver Ravens in 2003 - a year after piling up a career-best 90 points including 53 goals. If he stays on his current pace of 4.3 points per game, he will hit 69 points by the end of the 16-game schedule.

The Vancouver product earned NLL Offensive Player of the Week honours after he notched four goals and four assists in the Rush's 13-12 victory over the Philadelphia Wings on Jan. 6 - an outcome which gave the Rush their first home win in franchise history.

Gill joined the Rush in a trade that saw the three-time NLL Champions Cup winner change teams twice in the off-season. After helping the Colorado Mammoth capture the league title last season, Gill was claimed by the Chicago Shamrox in the Expansion Draft, but was then acquired by the Rush along with Dan Stroup and Ryan O'Connor in a deal with the Shamrox.

His leadership and talents immediately made a difference for the Rush, giving the second-year club a true scoring threat up front with the experience to pass along to developing young players.

The Rush host the Portland LumberJax this Friday at Rexall Place, 7:00 p.m.

The Edmonton Rush believes ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING. Fans are encouraged to wear Black, Be Loud and Bring ATTITUDE.
