Duke Problems
Ive been looking into the "Duke Problem" for a few days now and have come to a few decisions on it. I do understand the underlying act, the fact that they potentially raped a hired stripper. What I don't understand is why the entire team was tested, I can't even begin to believe why the police would need to test everyone when only a few players were at the party. It seems like sloppy police work to me. Also, wouldn't the stripper be able to identify the attackers or atleast some of the players in a line up?

There are definitely some sketchy things going on in this investigation. The police only searching the house 64 hrs after the party, and this "unknown caller" with her conflicting 911 call...
It's hard to say what actually went on at the party, but the media has definitely painted these guys to be guilty. They've come out with stories saying that some players have been in trouble before for underage drinking and public urination... I found this as just a way to get the public to think that these guys are all career criminals. I mean I'm not saying that underage drinking or public urination was the right choice, but these things are not uncommon or compair to assult or armed robbery. I'm surprised that they didn't dig up and prior parking tickets that they might have had. I dunno, I'm just finding everything one sided, it seems like it's guilty until proven innocent.
Whether the allegations are true or not we'll find out soon enough, but this event will follow these guys for a long time, guilty or innocent.

Yup, thats just it. Guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the public. Even if found innocent though people will look at them with the "what if" or "maybe they did" thoughts...
Its a real shame. Who here really knows what happened... theres only a few that do and im sure the truth will come out at some point; after peoples reputations are ruined.

Well, according to the news, no DNA is matching but they’re going to go through with trial?
The defense has a ton of proof on their side, or lack of it, no DNA.
If DNA is enough to convict a man, surely lack of it is enough to get him off.

This annoys me...No charges had been filed, so all anyone knows is that there were Duke lacrosse players at a party, and they hired a stripper. I can't believe the coach of what....sixteen years or so, resigned and the entire season got cancelled becuase players allegedly raped a stripper. And, c'mon, it's a stripper. It's not like she has the greatest background, either.

I understand your point, nothing has been proven yet. But what are you saying, because of her background she doesn't deserve to be taken seriously? Rape is a serious allegation, you are right, but don't be so judgemental about the 'stripper' either before knowing anything for sure. That's just as ignorant.

Its kinda funny, first officer on scene called in that he had a passed out drunk woman on scene which was the alleged victim.
This is a bad situation, damage is done. Maybe shes telling the truth, maybe not. But the issue is she was clearly intoxicated and when you make rape claims when youre hammered, it doesnt do well, coupled with the fact of lack of evidence.
I hope the "right" thing happens, and the truth will come out.

And so the next stage begins....
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...e/3799647.html
According to the AP, 2 players have been indicted in regards to the rape case. They wont say who the players are until they are arrested or appear before the court, but they've adjourned for two weeks, so I'm sure we can look forward to having this drawn out for a while yet.
