Default ECAC Announces First Player of the Week Honors

The ECAC Lacrosse League has announced its first weekly honorees for the 2008 season.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Cooper MacDonnell, Loyola - Sophomore, Attack, Darien, Conn.
MacDonnell scored a career-high four goals in Loyola's win at No. 13 Towson on Saturday. The sophomore, who leads the Greyhounds in goals scored, has five goals in two games this season.

Tim Balise, Massachusetts - Junior, Attack, Wilbraham, Mass.
Balise set a career-high with four goals as UMass defeated No. 17 Hofstra. Balise was the key to the UMass offense with four of the team's eight goals.

CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Doc Schneider, Massachusetts - Junior, Goalkeeper, Massapequa, N.Y.
The junior tied his career-high with 19 saves, including 12 in the second half, as UMass defeated No. 17 Hofstra. Schneider allowed just four goals in 60 minutes of action.

William Olin, Rutgers - Sophomore, Goalkeeper, Horseheads, N.Y.
Olin recorded 17 saves while facing 33 shots against No. 19 UMBC. The sophomore allowed just four goals to lead the Scarlet Knights to victory. He also picked up four ground balls to tie for the team lead.

CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK

Doug Kuring, Fairfield - Freshman, Attack, New Milford, Conn.
Kuring made an immediate impact in his Fairfield debut, leading the team with three points in an overtime win over Providence. He netted his first collegiate goal, the gamewinner, with 2:02 remaining in the first overtime, scooping a ground ball behind his back and into the goal. Kuring also added a pair of assists and four ground balls in the win.

Kory Kelly, Rutgers - Freshman, Attack, Princeton, N.J.
Kelly tied for the team lead with three goals on seven shots in a 13-4 win over No. 19 UMBC on Sunday. Five of his seven shots were on goal and he was tied for second on the squad with one caused turnover.
