Default Hobart Statesmen Announce 2008 Lacrosse Slate

The 2008 Hobart College lacrosse schedule features seven homes games, five away games, and two neutral site contests. In addition to their traditional slate of rivals, the Statesmen will also face off against two new opponents.

Hobart, which begins preseason practice on Jan. 19, opens the season on Feb. 23, against Bucknell at Boys' Latin School in Baltimore, Md. The Statesmen will make their home debut on March 1, when Hartford visits Geneva. Seven days later, the St. Joseph's Hawks come to town for their first contest against Hobart.

The Statesmen kick off a three-game road trip that coincides with spring break at Georgetown, one of three 2007 NCAA Tournament teams on the docket, on March 15. On March 18, Hobart will take on its second new foe, Division I newcomer Presbyterian at Collegiate School in Richmond, Va. The Statesmen close out the trip with a night game at Rutgers on March 21.

The excitement and the tradition of the annual Kraus-Simmons Trophy game returns to Geneva after two years in the Salt City. On March 25, Hobart and Syracuse will square off for the 94th time.

After a trip to ECAC rival Fairfield on March 29, the Statesmen will host another ECAC foe, Penn State, on April 5. Hobart will get some TV time when the Statesmen travel to UMass on April 12. The game is scheduled to be part of the league's package on CN8. St. John's visits Boswell Field on April 19 followed by a Hobart trip to nearby Buffalo to take on Canisius on April 22.

The Statesmen will close out the regular season with back-to-back home games. It will be Lacrosse Lettermen Weekend when Loyola travels north on April 26. Six days later, Hobart will wrap up its 106th regular season by hosting Cornell. The oldest rivalry in collegiate lacrosse, the Statesmen and Big Red will square off for the 128th time.

WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) will once again broadcast every Hobart game this season. In addition, all home games will have online coverage with free Live Stats and pay-per-view video streaming on ECAC.tv.
