I was just wondering. If you're on defense and you take the ball, can you run it down the field?
Cuz in my game last week, I saw someone on the defense side run the ball down past where they're allowed to go. Was it because they were a middie? or does possession grant you the ability to run it down after a certain point?
It doesn't really concern me, as I play attack 99% of the time, if not, then middie. I was just wondering in case I have to be a defense middie.

In field lacrosse, you always have to keep 3 people on the attack (3 attack) side of the field and 4 on the defensive side (3 d-men and 1 goalie). Any of these people can cross half but if they do, a middie needs to stay on that side.

Eg, D-man gets the ball and starts running towards the other net. Middie stays back so there are 4 people on defensive side. D-man goes up and shoots then runs back.

Attackmen can also do this. If they are chasing a guy, its not like they cannot run after him when the guy passes half. You can keep running after him and yell "Middie Back" so someone knows.

Not sure if it is too confusing. I am really tired right now.

Just make sure there is a middie back and once you take it a pass it or clear the ball to run back as quickly as you can.

However, when you are on the offensive side, don't "run out your welcome". You are on the field to be a defensive player. The player you told to stay back (usually) is on the field to be a offensive/defensive player. Start the fast break, hand it off to another player to continue it, and get back to where you belong. If you have the shot, however, take it. Know when to take your shot and when to pass it off.
