This may sound really wierd but our lacrosse team was givin a warning because we were "showboating" and i was woundering if that is an actual rule? I think the ref just hates our team.

Maybe you showboated to much to the point where it is Unsportsman like? Like after a goal you start screaming and doing front flips, and making the other team feel like they stink. It could be a penalty if you take it too far. My friend got a penalty for screaming "Yard Sale!" in the middle of a game when a kid got, well, yard saled. It is entirely possible to get a penalty for that, but it usually doesn't happen unless refs are really strict and/or have a stick up their butt ()

Refs have a dicatorship over a game, they can give out pentaltys for unsportsmanlike conduct as they please, it simply varies from ref to ref, some enjoy letting people play the game while other will keep everything tight and nice

All we were doing was cheering and hitting our sticks up against the board(i play box lacrosse). Is that such a problem!?!?!?

For how long did this cheering occur? Was your team up by a substantial amount of goals? Was the goal itself somewhat flashy (ie behind the back, or another trick shot)?

It wasn't like a "we completly owned you" kind of cheer and i think the goal tied it or put us up by 1, i forget. I just don't understand what the ref was thinking. The refs were terrible!

Yeah that sounds pretty ridiculous to me. Some refs need to get a life and let kids play lacrosse.

if a team is getting beatten pretty bad, nothing is worse than having the other team showboat when they keep scoring, lacrosse is about respect, showboating isnt repsectful

ya. being showboated on isnt that fun.. i played a team on saturday night that was well beyond our level, and they got all pissed. after every goal they would come up to our faces and start screaming and swearing. same with an injury that happened to one of our players, they just said, take that *****.. most amazingly though, i was running on a fastbreak, another mid had the ball, one of their mids was trailing ours. he reached out his arm and started pulling the ball carrier down with his glove, hiding it from the refs view with his other arm. they were the most unsportsmanlike team i have ever played, and the ref didnt care.
