I was playing a rec (which really means travel, we are just rec) game and I'm in 8th grade and with like 4 seconds left I just layed some kid out. I was playing down for the B team cause they don't have a goalie so the D sucked. They let an attackman get behind them on a clear and even when I yelled to them they didn't care. The d-man on their team threw a long pass to him and it tipped off his stick, the ball rolled to about 5 or 6 yards in front of the crease. I went to get the gb, but I got too close and wouldnt be able to pick up the ball, so I popped the kid. I didn't hit him high, just hard. He literally flew back about 4-5 yards. The ref threw a flag and ended the game. He told me If there was more time left in the game, he would have thrown me out for a "viscious hit" and since we have him as a ref a lot this year, if he sees me hit someone else in a "viscious" way, he will have be suspended for the season. Me and about half of my coaches and teammates thought it was a clean hit. Anyways, can he have me suspended for the season? Or is he full of crap?

I doubt that can happen. It is really at the descretion of the league. Ask your coach/league intervener to see if it can really happen.

By the rules, no. He only has the power to eject you from a game. Depending on your where you play though, the official could bring it to your league's attnetion and then they might take action. If they were to suspend you for a whole season though, chances are you'll have a chance to explain yourself and get out of it. Really takes a lot of effort to do something like that though, and he'd need some solid proof to ever get away with it.

Yea it was one of those borderline legal hits that I just kinda put everything and then some into it. When I asked the ref what I did wrong, he said I lined him uo and used unneccesary force. When he said he would throw me out for the season, I said no you can't and he said yes he can and I said read the rulebook. I'm confident saying that though because i read the rulebook cover to cover 4-5 times. I just wanted to hear what you guys thought.

yeah I'm pretty sure he can't do that. It says nowhere in the rulebook he can suspend you for the season. He could have just said like loose-ball push...

Im pretty confident that that was a clean hit, and I dont think they can expel you from the league.
