Default Dyein heads

Hey some one tell me some tips about dyein head i think i have it down but just to make sure here is how i was told to do it.

1st-Boil water
2nd-put dye in
3rd-let head sitt in boilin dye/water
How long should i let the head sitt in the water and dye how will i know if it is ready or not???

Hmm, uhh, your description is a little confusing, you don't plan to put the head in while the water is still boiling, right? Might not be the safest/brightest idea.

Putting the head in boiling is the smartest idea. It is the best for pinching and the only way to dye. And there is no damage done to the head.
