So I have a few questions about actually learning to play the games itself.
A couple of months ago I posted a question on Yahoo! Answers asking how to learn to play. I was told by a ten-year player to buy a stick and a ball, and practice throwing & catching on the side of the house. Well, I've done that, and *think* I'm pretty decent at it.
I'll be a freshman in High School next year, and was wanting to play for their Lacrosse team, to not only be part of an extra-curricular activity, but to be part of a sport as well. It just, I dunno. Sparks something in me, watching lacrosse.
Anyway, I emailed the coach at the school asking on tips on how to learn to play the game and if there were summer camps in my state that taught you how to play. The only response I ever got was a 'Thank you for your interest, come and see on of our games sometime.'
So I decided to come to a lacrosse forum and read around, and upon not finding any questions similar to mine, to post some of my own. So here they are:
1. Most obviously, what would your suggestion be in learning to play the game? I wouldn't want to show up to tryouts one day and only know how to throw and catch.
2. I know that Men's lacrosse and women's is different. However, I have 3 (girl)friends who are in my same situation, but one of their sisters plays for a team, so they pretty much have a teacher. Would it help to learn the women's basics with them over the summer, or would it mess me up when I learned how to play Men's properly?
3. Is it common for some larger cities (like Louisville, KY, where I am) to offere lacrosse camps during the summer? If so, how would I find them?
Any and all responses would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!
