Default Goalie 101

HEy i was bored so i did this, yes i am a goalie. Best youth in state. Here are some of my techniques! Tell me what you think!

Always step to the ball
No matter what happens you must get ur body behind the ball. If the ball is shot from the left side, go with your left foot. And Vice Versa! Remember to get your stick ASAP behind the ball and infront of your body. When you rotate your stick, remember to keep the head open fully and keep your arms outstretched all the way. After you step you should be in a squat position for low shots. Practice makes perfect.

Prepare for the Shot
Keep your eyes on the ball at all times. When the ball moves across the field, you move with the ball. Even if it is at halffield, prepare for a shot. Which means you get in a athletic postition, hold your stick head at level with your head. Remember to have your top hand right snug by the head and your bottom in the middle. If not you are probobly not going to stop the ball!

Make the Clear
Goalies dont only have to stop the ball, they must get it down field ASAP. Don't be afriad to go out of the crease if no one is open! But when an opponent move to you, immediatly pass. You want it to make an arc for an easy catch. If you have a good arm, you can throw it to a middie or attack down on the mid line!

Follow the ball
Keep your eye on the ball at all times, never take it off! If the ball goes to "X, face the goal, holding the stick in the air. Stand about a foot away from the top post for a quick interception. When the ball gets around to the side, push your body against the post. This helps create a very small hole for the attackman to shoot on.

Also, a goalie is basicly a quaterback, you must lead your team. At all times tell where the ball is, (Ball high, Ball side, Ball X, slide, defense back...so on) Lead your team. Don't blame them for a second. Give them encouragment the entire game.

DONT BEAT YOURSELF UP
Goales are going to go in sometimes! You cant stop that! So if a ball goes in don't get pissed off! Imagine the same shot, but you save it! Encourage yourself and team. If you get mad at yourself your going to miss the next shot, and so on! The night before a game, when you go to bed. Imagine you in the game next day, stopping all the balls coming at you!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Every great goalie needs practice! Take friends down to the park, have them shoot at you. Practice Spinning your arms like a propellor! Be at home imagining a ball flying at you, while you with your stick and gloves. practice moving to the ball. Don't only get shot on as practice. You can still go out and play catch with your friends!!

SOON YOU WILL BE GREAT

Nice work. You should talk about the different techniques such as arcs, clears, leading the defence. More indepth, the better. Let me know if you plan on doing this or need help with it. I have some free time right now and I can start up some more things.

The more you practice the more you love it the better it will get-
There comes a point where you know everything about playing goalie-
You then just have to practice it all-
Every game becomes another step in gaining basically like an experience point, this all then makes you a better goalie-
After some experience youll mature as a goalie realizing-
not to be scared- do it
and ATTACK THE BALL- as said before- this is most important- dont be afraid imagiine yourself making the save and stepping to the ball-
