after playing lax for about a year ive realized that shooting sidearm is essential. but whenever i do the ball flies out the side or it goes to low, any tips?

just go downstairs in your basement or someplace with a wall and just practice and try everything.......i like to keep my elbow from tucking in until afer i shoot it and like to go a little bit under sidearm like half a foot

Tighten your shooters a tad, it'll cause more whip and will hold the ball slightly more.

while sidearm can be important in some situations, your overhand or 3/4 shot is MUCH more important i would say practice them 90/10 90 being the overhand
also shooting on the run is essential

as for improving your sidearm:
as stated before make sure your elbows arent tucked in
follow the abbreviation B.E.E.F
Body- make sure your using your entire body in the shot
Eyes- make sure your eyes are on your target
Elbows- NO CHICKEN WINGS (elbows tucked in to your sides)
Feet- each foot should be supporting your entire weight at one point

Your main problem is probably your pocket, if you follow all what berger said.

The pocket needs whip to hold the ball in, just like an underhand shot.

So, you can do a couple things to make your pocket able to rip that sidearm, just like you want.

You can pound the pocket to make it deeper, and move the pocket higher up in the head. If the ball normally rests right beneath the shooters, you should be able to shoot sidearm.

You can tighten up your shooters, which always works.

In the end, it will all come down to how much you practice though. Keep trying it, and one day it will magically work perfectly.

Also, in reality, the sidearm isn't all that valuable. In some cases, it will really help, but those cases show up next to nothing. The straight over, bounce shot is the one that works charms. Practice it. Practice it. Practice it.

you kind of contradicted yourself there, just to clear up any confusion. also snapping with your wrists helps you control the release point better.

Side arm has some decent speed, but no accuracy. In a game always shoot 3/4 or overhand. Maybe on the spped gun take a crack at side arm but dont make this a habit!

make SURE your sliding your hand. going from top to bottom. because if you start down low the ball will fly out of the side.
