Default Protective Gloves

New to the Forum

Son plays U14 attack. Not the biggest kid. He takes a lot of very hard hits in front of the goal. Last season his hands took quite a beating. Lots of bruises & smashed fingers. Can anyone recommend a good pair of gloves that will give him protection and
the flexibility he likes in his old worn out gloves. Also I'd like to walk the fine line as to cost. He's growing like a weed but protection is first & foremost

Thanks

Well depends on how big his hands are. There are only 2 basic sizes for gloves 12" and 13". Most player above 8th grade use 13" simply becuase there hands are big enough. However, i o know kids who are juniors or seniors and still use 12" gloves becuase they either have small hand or love the tight feeling.
Best protection on the market is the supaflys from warrior. The macdaddys, shockers, and supaflys are essentially the same glove with the supaflys being the top of the line. If flexibility is key then i will reccomend the brine kings. These are tighter gloves offering decent protection with amazing flexibility. The k18s are basically an inbetween. They offer good protection and better flexibility than the warrior gloves. However, your son should really just go and try on gloves and find what fits. What kind of gloves does he use now/ what size? If he decides to get 13" gloves they can last him for a good 3/4 or more season. Once you hit that 13" glove you never really grow out of them and if you do then you have to custom order them.

Thats just naming the top of the line glvoes out there Rglax. There are definitely some cheaper gloves with the same amount of protection and mobility, don't need to spend 200 bucks on a pair of gloves when you can spend 60 - 100.

I would suggest the Warrior Hypnos. They are a bang for your buck. Around 60 dollars, very protective and still mobile. A step up from the basics. I'm guessing your son has some old foam padding gloves, correct? If so go to the hypnos.

Or the STX Choppers are also a great pair of gloves. A bit less protective then the hypnos but more mobile and also more flashier .

It is up to you, but I would choose between the 2 gloves I told you above. Good luck!

But if you want good protection hypnos do nothing for you. I used a pair and they were just as bad as the basic gloves. Choppers from what ive heard are a little bit better but not by much. Gloves are the one piece of equipment where a player should spend money becasue cheap gloves arent going to protect you as well as more expesive ones.

I use studs which by the way arent only team order gloves, they are jsut exclusive to Lacrosse Unlimited. I love em, but they dont have a cuff which is great for defense

The K-18's are great gloves! The plastic ventilator also serves as a guard. I also like the Brine Kings.
