Thats just naming the top of the line glvoes out there Rglax. There are definitely some cheaper gloves with the same amount of protection and mobility, don't need to spend 200 bucks on a pair of gloves when you can spend 60 - 100.
I would suggest the
Warrior Hypnos. They are a bang for your buck. Around 60 dollars, very protective and still mobile. A step up from the basics. I'm guessing your son has some old foam padding gloves, correct? If so go to the hypnos.
Or the
STX Choppers are also a great pair of gloves. A bit less protective then the hypnos but more mobile and also more flashier

.
It is up to you, but I would choose between the 2 gloves I told you above. Good luck!
