its all preference. if you are interested in just trying it out, the Icon is a good begginer stick as well as the Brine Ripper, but beyond that, it is all preference/

Try out the AV8 also. All of those heads are nice and wide allowing you to pick up the skills necessary quickely. And they can be easily pinched once you get better. As for the shaft, I would go with something cheap like an aluminum. There is no need to waste money on an expensive shaft when youj first start off. You can get a better once you get your skills up. Good luck.

well the icon, rocket, savage II and av8 are all great heads

but if you wanna jump in... id say a an intrepid or triton (which are on sale at lacrossemonkey.com) on a db803 or something of that sort would be a good heads to start with thatds last evenwhen your game matures and improves

Just get a beginner set up, and if you get the basic skills down and realize you like this sport a lot and will stick with it spend a little more cash to get a nicer stick.

STX AV8 w/ STX AL 600 PRO ------ First Stick suggestion

For a beginners stick, you can't go wrong with an STX AV8 with a AL6000, however I have that and the Gait Icon with a DB6000 shaft for when i first started. I like both, but probably prefer the STX AV8. It helps you learn catching better and is easier to scoop with. If you can, replace the mesh with hard mesh and upgrade the shaft to a Warrior Platinum Alloy. By the way, the AV8 comes with soft mesh, which is pretty bad even for beginners. Not only does the ball bounce out, but there is far less hold, and once it gets even a little moist, consider your pocket done. Hard mesh is one of the most proven, durable meshes out there.
