Default My Reviews!!! (part 1)

Right-o. I, now having my midfeild stuff for over a year, Will be reviewing most o f it for your own pleasure. Enjoy, and i hope you learn something.

Shaft- Warrior Platinum

Strength- I would say this is quite strong... I dont know if i just got the odd one of the batch, or what, but it dents my STX c405 deepfreeze easily. The one downfall of it is it nicks and scratches easily. I have had it for a little over a year, and no dents or anything, very strong for the price.

Weight- The weight is fantastic on this shaft. It weighs a little more than the Kryptolyte, which is quite light. It feels like you are holding nearly nothing. Pair this up with a brine cyber or something along that line, it will be a perfect attack shaft, Lightweight and cheap.

Grip- It has a nice grip... The same as all warrior grips, curved edges and such. I think its pretty good, but this one is preference.

Overall- I would give this 8.9 out of 10. It is not quite a 9 caliber, because of the knicking and stuff, because it retracts from appearance, and as we all know, look count Outside of that it is quite strong, and nice and grippy. Im not sure it would stand up to the power of a Titanium or high end alloy, but it is still strong enough to deal out some good checks. At only around 45 dollars, i would say this shaft is a steal. Go for it.

edit- And yes, I am aware of the fact that it isnt laxnation review caliber, But it should help out some beginners looking into this shaft. And more reviews on my equipment to come. Ive had it all long enough now to test the durability, i should have a few more up by the end of today.

The stx primer, In all its glory, shall now be reveiled...

Right-o

Durability- Durability.Hmm, Its good i guess. This head is obviously made for attack, look at the pinch, the weight, the umm... What else goes with attack? Nevermind, But anyways. This head is not meant for defense. It is somewhwat stiff, But still leaves something to be desired to any defenders that are using it. I use this for attack most often, and i must admit, its holding up quite well. It has taken a few good checks here and there, and no serious harm has been inflicted upon it. Actually, no harm at all... I would say yeah, This head will hold up quite well. Durability wise i would give it an 7/10.

Pinch- Bow to the pinch of the almighty Primer! This pinch is "Sick", using one of those new hip cool early teen words. It is almost perfect for me. It Is nice and pinched, most of the way up the head, where it widens out pretty quick, making for a good pinch and also allowing a decent amount of room for catching. The pinch will accomodate all middle and low pockets, but high pockets will have the ball lying out of the reach of the pinch. But so will all high pockets on any head. My point, Middle pockets rule, High pockets suck . This pinch is completely awesome, 9/10 on this one STX, very nicely done.

Weight- My lightest head... Lighter than the Icon!!! oh yes. I saw in a magazine that it is about 4.8 unstrung. That sounds about right. It is so light, it gets you in fights, it stands up for civil rights.... Yeah i can rhyme now. This head is awesomely amazingly spectacularly insanely light. I would say it will fit all of your lightness needs. If not, there are always a few lighter options, like the torque and cyber out there. 8/10 on the weight scale.

Stringing- *Marflax Begins to cry silently at the thought* I hatttttte the stringing holes on this head. And i dont mean a slight dislike exagerated over the internet, But i can not stand trying to string it. It makes me sooo mad. The Holes are all itty-bitty, making it sometimes difficult for my clumsy hands to put the string through. Than they have like this weird double hold verticle style thing going on... I dont quite understand what it is supposed to do. This is a pain to string, IMHO, 5/10 on his.

Overall- Overall, outside of those cursed stringing holes, this is a nice head indeed. It has a sweet pinch, And good weight to compliment it. I would say that all of you defenseman or sadistic Middies out there should probably stay away from this, But offensive players will really appreciate this head if they can find one who can string it properly ( I am one who cant). All in all, This head deserves a 8.5 out of ten. Im sure with a little effort, and an hour of your day, you could string this just right with the verticle holes, But i am impatient, so i very likely strung it wrong in the first place , and i am also lazy, so i am not going to restring it. Yes, this head should be on your "Consider" list for things to buy, But in the 65-70 dollar price range, i think you could do a little better with a Gait Torque or something along those lines.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gait Icon(30$) review

Durability- Oh yes. Durability wise, for the price, This thing is an absolute Tank. I mean, Ive had this longer than any of my other heads... Almost a year and a half, And all it has gotten from the year of beating is 2 hairline cracks that effect the performance of this head in no way. I am 100 percent impressed by this head's durability. It is strong enough for any position, And even stiff enough for defensive heads. Definently good for all positions, and very strong.

Pinch- Once again, "Oh yes". The pinch on this is very good, But for those of you who like insane ball handling and tricks, than this probably wouldnt be your first choice. It has a pinch similar to most all around heads, Somewhat wide, but not wide to the point it is sacraficing in ball control at all. The pinch is just enough to have very good ball control, than it widens out to have a very good catching surface on top. Well done Gait on this one. The most Pinched part of the throat Is almost Exactly 3 inches, and the widest part on top is around 6 3/4. All in all a nice pinch.

Weight- Umm... Let me check. Still not getting anything, i think it is because there Isnt enough weight to tell.... This is soo light. I think a laxnation review said it came out to 5.2 ounces strung, But that doesnt really seem right to me. It is definently lighter than my evo, and my evo is 5.4 strung. Well, Lets just say its ungodly light and call it good. It is light enough for your needs, Trust me.

Stringing- Yummay. The stringing possibilites on this is awesome. It has enough Holes for any stringjob you could imagine. It has 9 topstring holes, and 18 (counting the little ones) Sidewall holes. 14 of the 18 are the huge Gait stringing holes, with enough room for anything, and there are 2 barely string sized holes on the ends of the head. All of the topstring holes are big. You could definently string anything your heart desired on this head.

Overall- Wow, I am lost for words on what Gait has done. This head rocks, simple as that. And for only around 25-30 bucks, this is the best deal money can buy in lacrosse. There is absolutely no reason you should not own this head, Mow a couple lawns around the neighborhood, and go buy it. And dont argue. Its that good.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The STX Ipros

Protection- This is soooooooooo *gasp* ooooooo good on these gloves. Thave have very good protection, with 3 peice fingers and very hard, lightweight padding on the top. They also have very nice protection on the sides of fingers, a place where most gloves dont put much protection. THey have plastic inserts there, so there is little pain when hit. The only problem with the protection is the pinky finger, Because it is only a 2 peice finger. Almost no gloves have put 3 parts to the pinky finger, resulting in less protection and mobility, but the 2 peice protects enough that it wont hurt very bad when hit there, it is mostly just an annoying hit. The wrists have great protection, with a floating cuff for added support.

Flexibility/Mobility- Just one word, Awesome. They come with the STX game ready feel, and are very very flexible right out of the bag. The thumb might be a little stiff at first, but that clears up if you bend it a few times, they are very flexible. The wrist is also nice, the floating cuff is nice and flexible. These are very good in the flexibilty range.

Appearence- Seeeexy. These gloves look very nice. I have mine in Black/Grey and they are sweet. They have A cool looking vent hole on top too

Grip- I love the grip. It has the usual leather/mesh combo that STX is known for. The best part about it is the leather. It is nice and tacky, so it holds onto your stick almost for you. Its a rough leather. I have had mine for a good 2 weeks of games every tuesday and thursday, and there is no sign of the stitching coming out or anything on the palms. A very nice feature to these gloves.

Ventilation- This is the only downside of this gloves. The ventilation could be much better on these puppies. STX has the coolmax in it, which helps quite a bit with sweating and smell and such, But it feels like your hands are stuck in 110 degree weather when the rest of your body is in 90 degrees. They could have improved on this, but it is a very slight downfall, considering how good the rest of the features are.

Overall I would give these gloves a 9.3 out of 10. They have very very good features on everything except the ventilation, but that is a small price to pay for the rest of the reedeming factors on these gloves. I would say these are a must buy for anyone looking for a very flexible and protective glove. The protection might be a little overkill for defense, but all of you offensive players out there, these are your gloves!

the ipros will take a beating. I have have a middie/attackman who had these gloves. He took them all the way to the All-state tournament. He still uses them. They are perfect in terms of durability. The thing that shows that it is not fresh from the factory is the marks from sticks and like one grass stain on the knuckles.

stringing the primer isnt that bad if you do it right, just burn and pinch the sidewall strings really skinny thats what i did, but if you do your sidewalls wrong the ball wont fall out if it is upsidedown, because of the pinch i just dyed and strung mine tonight, it is dyed yellow/gold and cocoa brown, i know what your thinking why the heck brown gold and brown are my team colors ill put pics up if anyone wants me to just let me know
