Question bunch of different goalie related questions

I'm a 2nd year goalie but I still have some questions...

1. at my varsity game today our goalie was hit with a side hack. it hit him in the shoulders and the opposing player got a call for slashing... legit call or no?

2. next year with the new head rules going into effect are goalies going to get new heads or is that just for regular heads?

3. is having your legs spread apart in your ready stance a bad thing for a goalie cause the shooter can put a ball between your legs or is it just a preference?

any responses would be appreciated

depends on how far he brought the stick back the shoulders are a leagal place to hit

goalie heads are rarely effected the big nasty is one i thing that got banned

shoulder width apart is best, but whatever works for you, if u want to bait shooters low open ur stance and then close it but my stance is slighty wider then my shoulders.

1.Depends on how high on the shoulder he was hit. If it was fairly close to the neck than it is legit. If it was toward the back of the shoulder than it is legit. If it was the front part of the shoulder than it was not legit.

2.Goalie sticks will most likely NOT be affected seeing as there is nothing that is "illegal" about them now.

3.Having your legs spread apart is something called an athletic postion. if you have your legs bent than you are able to move more agile and quicker than you would be able to if your legs were straight. So I wouldn't necessarily call it preference. If you watch NCAA or MLL goalies their stances are very similiar.

The big nasty is banned, but its a sick head. IT looks so cool, u could probably get away with using it

my friend has a big nasty, but the flaps didnt seem to do too much. i dont think he ever saved a shot with them and all it does is make the head heavier

1. Legit call.
2. Just regular heads. I dont think that they would change a goalie's head.
3. Just preferance, Most of the time you will be able to bring your stick down and and block it.

Yes, it was a good call. I'm assuming he was out of the crease? If the goalie steps out of the crease he is considered as a regular player.

I'm guessing the goalie head rule will not be enforced to heavily, but yes with every new year there will be new heads.

That is the ready position for goalies, you just have to get your stick down there.
