Smile Want To Play Goalie

Hey I am starting to play and I wanted to play goalie but my parents refuse to let me play in goal, do you have any suggestions that would convince them to let me play. I do play goalie in soccer and I know it is not the same thing but I am a very aggressive goalie and always come out (of practice, games, or just messing around with friends) with bruises and blood so it's not like I am not use to any of the abuse but they still won't let me. Thanks!!!

So they have a reason why they won't let you?

They might be scared to let you play because of the high risks of goalies getting hit and going into cardiac arrest. I would sit down with them and ask them why they wont let you play goal. Once you find out the reason, then you can provide a good argument.

Tell them that the goalie is one of the most important positions on the field and that the goalie acually the "general" of the field. if they don't let you allow you to use your better abilities like being a goalie in soccer, then they are letting the team down. hope that works.

Here's an interesting look at it...

Middies/attack = lots of running and quick turns which can lead to rolled ankles and acl problems if hit wrong. Also with slashes, checks, etc can lead to broken ribs/bones (we had a middie with a shattered knee cap after a hit as by some random event the stick manage to hit him just so on his knee cap)

Goalies = wear more padding, fewer oportunities to get hurt (depending on how crappy your defence is/how fast your middies come back), sure you will get a few bruises, but so do field players. You can minimise you cardiac arrest issues with proper pads, and if they are really really worried you can where underpads also.

Just tell your folks your doing it to get the girls...

(broken bones heal and chicks dig scars )

They might be worried, they don't want to see you get hurt. That is how my parents were but I just sat with them and talked it out and they let me play.
