Just out of curiosity how, why and when did all of you start ur goalie careers.


for me its this: our coach was searching for a goalie because we had no backups for our senior that had graduated last year. so me and one other guy stepped, i turned out to be much better than the other guy. i started out ruff and playeed horribly the first 5 games, but the last 4 i kicked ass, over 10 saves on like all of them with a 67% save percentage, unfortunately we lost in quarters of our playoffs, im hoping itll be better nxt year.

Well I got to hand it to my coaches I wouldnt be anywhere without those guys, but Since none of us had ever played before and this being our first year the spot for goalie was pretty much up for grabs and we all know that no one wants to be goalie so I stepped in just as a joke and I played for the day and enjoyed it. We never won a game this year but like I said I got to hand it to the coaches from taking a kid who thought lacrosse was something you would find in a catholic church to 63%. I thought it was pretty cool. Also he found ways to get me into the spirit to have 24 saves in one game. Although it wasnt always consistent it was awesome to come this far.

I started off 4 years ago. We were playing lacrosse in gym class and I was loving it. So my teacher (who was the coach at that time) told me to tryout in the spring. So when spring came, I tryed out and and made it as back up. We went 0-8 that year but I had fun. My coach has put me in the second half of every game just to get experince as the starting goalie was going off.

So no, 4 years later, I am the only goalie and our school lacrosse MVP. I am not sure if they will have another next year. I had fun playing and now I hope to play next year. I know that next year, I am going to come back and help coach. Mabey train another up and comming goalie.

Yeah. I just finished my last year. The main reason I probably got it was because we had no offensive or defensive power and most of the games were in my hands. Lets just hope my talent can get me on the U19 team.

I was a soccer goalie on my high school team and the lacrosse coach asked me to try it out because they didnt have a goalie for lacrosse and come to find out i loved it more then soccer so now this is coming into my 3rd year of playing and i love it.

Goalie isn't my main position but I played it in summer league and in backyard scrimmages. Well it was just a pick up game 'bout a year ago. My friend who was playing goalie said he felt like shooting, but all of us were to afraid to play. After about 5 minute of argueieng I threw my friends pads on and jumped in. What a rush, I was really good at first(much better than my friend who is our actual goalie). I play alot like Matt Russel where I attack the ball and give up quite a few rebounds, but I play very far in goal like Trevor Tierney. But right off the bat I stopped every outside shot taken except one that caught a weird bounce. I also stopped a fair share of inside shots, but once I took a crank(when i say crank I mean CRANK, my friend shoots in the high 80's) right to the lower thigh and my adrenaline kicked into overdrive, I stopped everything, I went 14 for 14 for the rest of the game. anyways thats how I started, just in a small scrimmage. I still think it is the funnest position. I just happen to have a attackmen's skill set, but I also do enjoy attack. this just gave me a great idea for a thread, look for it in the general forum.

Attackman that funny cuz the first game i started playing well i got drilled on my upper right arm, i guess it is the adrenaline.
