I'm not a goalie but I have to help my coach train 2 new goalies so here are just a few...
1. ALWAYS take a step toward the shooter and cut off the angle.
2. if youa re 1-on-1 don't hunker down in the net - He will score every time. You need to run at him and try to put your stick to his stick and hopefully stuff him. The 1-on-1 is the most high percentage shot so you have a better chance at just running at him.

stringing and more coming soon..
Step to the ball
Always step with your foot. On a shot to the right side - right foot. A shot on the left side - left foot.
Stepping to the ball will let you get your body behind the ball and if you get hit, your muscles will be tense and you will not feel it as much as before.
Set an arc
You need to setup an arc. Whether it is a 3 step, 5 step, or 7 step. It all depends on your size. I use a 5 step arc. (6')
The arc will help you set up angles on the shots and you will always know were the net is.
Get your body behind the stick
If you miss the ball, make sure your body is behind it. You will not feel as much pain in a game and your team will thank you if that was the save that turned the game around.
Have fun
The most important thing about being a goalie is having fun. Do not get down onyourself if you let in a goal. It happens. Just get ready for the next one and have some fun. You will enjoy the game more.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Im a goalie for youth lacrosse too... Some pointers are: Never ever be afraid of the ball. The point of being a goalie is to stop it, not run away from it.
You need to take one step to the ball, i.e. if the ball is headed to the bottom right corner, take a step to the right with your right foot.
Practice alot... If you have a brother or parent that can play decently at lacrosse, give them your shortstick and head for a goal. Sometimes practice being in goal with a shortstick, it helps.
One thing that I found really destroys you, is if someone just scored, dont be too hard on yourself. It happens to the best. And above all just have fun.
hey man im a starting high school goalie so if u have ne questions u can ask me

one thing i recommend is stay slightly outside the goal to cut of angle and dont be afraid to let the ball hit u! yesterday i got nailed in my shin and in the balls bro lol! also try and clear to the sides of the field if ure defense isnt helping u throw down the side of the field and hope to hit ure team. if u get scored on keep ure head up and think about what u did wrong to do better next time

Id like to mention clearing, Its really the thing that decides the game in my eyes.
Its good to always get it to your guy or if they are all covered wing it down there and take a shot. thats what I do. Have fun dude its great game!!!

One thing to remember is to never get down on urslef while in the cage, also; after making a sick save dont be afraid to come out of the crees. the worst filling is having a clear picked off and being scored on, and even worse than that is being called for four seconds in the crees. dont be afraid to come out and run up the side lines. Its a good thing when u see someone coming at you it means that theres an open man somewhere near.
good luck man, remember ur not a goalie, ur a brick wall
Don't beat yourself up. The ball's are going to go in sometime! Just picture after a ball going in, the same shot. but you saved it! It's what made me great.
Remember to follow the ball, KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL
Most of the time if u dont have ur eye on the ball, it's going to go in.
Step to the ball! Most goalies think they can stop it just by putting there stick in front of it! Get your body there first, then your stick. Your body is much bigger than your goalie head! Also when rotating your stick make sure your head is fully open. Practice by spinning it like a windmill in your home.
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
all great goalies practice. I practice in my home! Take your stick and gloves. Pretend a ball is flying at you. Stop that ball!
PRACTICE MAN YOU'LL DO GREAT!

NEVER run at the player. depending on were there running you step out 2-3 feet and move in as they come in and always stay on the balls of your feet and rock side to side the take then step out when they shoot.
