Default Dyeing Heads?

Where do you guys get your dyed heads? From a website? I always see dyed heads in my games but have know clue where these kids got them? Any help.

I also have heard of people dyeing there own head. How do you do that? Instruction or direction would be great.

If i wanted to make my goalie a different color in any way how would I do that? Dye it? Paint it?
What?

Does a dyed head give you a disadvantage in any way? If so what?

Thanks a lot

Welcome to the forums..
You can get them dyed from stores like Lacrosse Unlimited, but you can also do it yourself. Look at the tutorial list in Stick Tech for more info. Yes, many say it makes the head more brittle hence it breaks more easily, but I've broken the same number of white heads as dyed heads so I don't know if I believe this.

You can dye your own head at your house. First you buy RIT dye, usually at a grocery store. Then follow the directions on the dye package. Once you made the solution, place your head in it for 2-10 hours, depending on how dark you want it to be. Finally put your head in ice water for a half hour. You can also make designs with two different colors with using a hot glue gun. You put the glue where you don't want the color to be. Do the same thing but when your finished, remove the glue and dye it a second time. But remember, you can make a head darker but you can't make it lighter so do the dark color first if you do the glue design.

1. Dye cost around twenty bucks in AZ.
2. Make the dye in boiling hot water
3. Let the water cool so you can put your finger in it for about 10 seconds, because the it's ready to place the head in.
4. Leave it in for 2 to 10 hours, depending on how dark you want the color to be.
5. Take head out of water and place in ice water for about a half hour.

When you want to put two colors on the head, get a glue gun and put a design on the head with the glue ( people usually do designs like tiger stripes and spots and stuff like that). When the hot glue dries, place the head in the darker color dye first. When it is finished with the darker color, remove the head. Take the glue off, then place the head in the lighter dye. Leave it in for desired amount of time, the take it out and put it in ice water. then you can see the design you made.

The head doesn't get weaker or heavier, but it may become more flexible if you don't leave it in the ice water long enough.

P.S.
If you are going to do a design, practice on a backup head or something less important so you can get the hang of it
