I too am a freshman and have been searching for a shot. I have started using a somewhat modified version of a crankshot. Take 2 or 3 stutter steps with your hips lined up with the goal, and fling the crap out of your stick, from the hip.

Default No Instant Cure

Sorry...the answer is what you're not looking for...repetition, getting your muscles to the point that the movements are natural. Work with your coach to make sure your form is solid...and then just start shooting away.

Also practicing in full gear is far more effective then just throwing against a wall...I see way too many new guys never wearing helmets and rarely wearing gloves in wall drills. Makes a big difference. Practice like you play.

Inside Lacrosse - Shooting: Learn the proper mechanics

^^ that's the best article on form I've seen, try to follow it as well as possible, and your shot should be a lot faster.

The main is just practice. Go take more shots, and keep your elbows up.

again, this isnt the answer u r looking for, but every day that u have off, and even days that u dont have off from practice, get out on a goal or a fence, and just rip shots over, and over again. i just finished my sophmore year, and i started going put to the fence and shooting every chance i got starting in january, and my shot got so much better, it got way faster, i got way more accurate, and it reulted in 23 goals this season. just take shots, b/c that targets only the specific muscles that r part of ur shot

all i can think of is work out ur forearms alot more than ur biceps. and flick ur wrist when the sticks about at ur head. and follow threw on the release on the same side of ur body.
