Step to the ball
Always step with your foot. On a shot to the right side - right foot. A shot on the left side - left foot.
Stepping to the ball will let you get your body behind the ball and if you get hit, your muscles will be tense and you will not feel it as much as before.

Set an arc
You need to setup an arc. Whether it is a 3 step, 5 step, or 7 step. It all depends on your size. I use a 5 step arc. (6')
The arc will help you set up angles on the shots and you will always know were the net is.

Get your body behind the stick
If you miss the ball, make sure your body is behind it. You will not feel as much pain in a game and your team will thank you if that was the save that turned the game around.

Have fun
The most important thing about being a goalie is having fun. Do not get down onyourself if you let in a goal. It happens. Just get ready for the next one and have some fun. You will enjoy the game more.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
