The Duke lacrosse frame/hoax is STILL going on. The three accused are STILL facing 30-year prison terms. The two special prosecutors assigned to the case are known as
cronies of the Durham/NC political machine; in the eyes of many they may be focusing on some way to still get some kind of convictions, instead of a search for justice.
(Think not? They did just that in the Gell case.)
Convictions would save the state a great deal in financial and political liability.
