HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL April 2, 2008 - Chicago Shamrox forward Cody Jacobs was named today Offensive Player and Overall Player of the Week for Week 15 of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
The 22-year-old forward scored six goals and one assist in the Shamrox's 15-10 win over Minnesota on Saturday at the Sears Centre Arena. Last Saturday's game marked just the fourth start of the season for the second-year pro, who saw his first action of 2008 on March 1st. Jacobs scored five of his goals in a 9-0 Chicago run that spanned through the entire second and third quarters. This is the second and third Player of the Week awards for Jacobs, who won Rookie of the Week during Week #9 of the 2007 NLL season.
The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's 12 teams.
The Chicago Shamrox (3-7) will play their second to last home game this Saturday, April 5 against the Philadelphia Wings (7-3) at 7pm at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.
