Shawn Evans Named Player Of The Week
Rochester's Shawn Evans was named both the Overall Player and Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals, including the game-winner, and seven assists in the Knighthawks' 18-8 road-win over the Chicago Shamrox on Saturday at Sears Centre. The 11 points was a career-high for the 21-year-old right-hander, who also scooped 11 loose balls to help the defending champs improve to 4-4.
Edmonton's Curtis Palidwor was named Defensive Player of the Week. The 38-year-old goaltender recorded 47 saves and held the LumberJax to just seven goals in the Rush's first win of the season, a 9-7 victory at Rose Garden on Saturday.
Teammate Steve Hutchins was named Rookie of the Week. In just his second career game, the 21-year-old forward was involved in six of Edmonton's nine goals on Saturday, recording one goal and five assists. He also scooped three loose balls.
Buffalo's Mark Steenhuis was named Transition Player of the Week. The 27-year-old right-hander scored four goals and six assists, and scooped 13 loose balls in Buffalo's 21-12 win over Philadelphia on Saturday at HSBC Arena.
