Im a goalie for youth lacrosse too... Some pointers are: Never ever be afraid of the ball. The point of being a goalie is to stop it, not run away from it.
You need to take one step to the ball, i.e. if the ball is headed to the bottom right corner, take a step to the right with your right foot.
Practice alot... If you have a brother or parent that can play decently at lacrosse, give them your shortstick and head for a goal. Sometimes practice being in goal with a shortstick, it helps.
One thing that I found really destroys you, is if someone just scored, dont be too hard on yourself. It happens to the best. And above all just have fun.
